My ultimate goal in life is to tell stories of people and places. But with my inclination towards technology, I want to bring about new ways of telling these stories. I want to utilise digital tools to make journalism more relatable, interactive and personal.

I am currently based in London and working as a senior journalist for the BBC World Service, heading BBC Urdu’s social media platforms and digital programming, along with looking after all digital audio and video output. My core interests include issues related to gender, minority rights, technology, arts and culture.
How did I get here?
Previously, I was working as a Field Producer for BBC World Service’s Indian Languages in Islamabad. Focusing on producing output for TV, radio and digital platforms.
I have worked in print media with the Dawn Newspaper as sub-editor, food writer and a photojournalist. Before that, I was working as a media coordinator in one of the branches of the government of Pakistan.

I graduated with a Bachelors in Computer Science from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and a Masters in Digital Journalism from University of Strathclyde, UK.
While in the UK, I worked as the editor-in-chief for the university’s digital publication “Aye Witness”, and won a commendation for my work at the Scottish Student Journalism Awards 2015.
After my postgrad, I taught for two years at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad. My core research included Digital Storytelling, Media Law & Ethics and Online Journalism.

More about me:
I love spending my time travelling and taking pictures. I love photographing with extreme colours, adding an aspect of surrealism to my work.
I also like to try different kinds of food, my life is filled with a lot of failed experiments in kitchen and restaurants, but I am yet to learn my lesson!
